Unfortunately, it's usually great personal distress that brings us to our knees in desperate cries to our Heavenly Father.
But what if that was normal?
What if we learned to pray desperately each day?
And what if we prayed prayers that moved the hand of God?
And if we prayed prayers that moved the hand of God, what kinds of prayers would they be?
A quick study of Scriptures reveals the kinds of prayer God answers: those things that are central to the very heart of our Savior.
Are we praying those kinds of prayers?
Listen to Jesus' heart through the Gospel of John:
I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father (14:13)
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (14:14)
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. (15:7)
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (15:16)
I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. (16:23,24)
Greg Pruett in his book Extreme Prayer: The Impossible Prayers God Promises to Answer states: "Praying in Jesus' name literally means praying about obeying Jesus' command to bring his salvation to each person and to the ends of the earth. Prayers in Jesus' name center on the desire to see people far from God coming to know, love, follow, and obey Jesus."
Will you join us in praying these type of prayers?
These type of prayers allow us to unleash the power of God into the nations!
Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession (Psalm 2:8).
