Once our team made the decision not to travel to Liberia this fall due to the ebola virus outbreak, we felt very saddened. We all knew that it was the best decision but it still was hard. Then one of our team members said, "Hey, maybe we can GIVE RICE if we can't go!" And now we have these photos showing some of the people that have been helped...
Giving rice meets an immediate need for many, many families. Though a bag of rice currently only costs $17 USD, not all Liberians can afford to buy rice for their families. And many have been left without food. President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has declared a state of emergency for the country of Liberia. This has led to closed borders, quarantined zones, slowed seaports, and the restriction of people's movements. As a result, there have been widespread reports of soaring food prices and increased hunger.
God is giving an opportunity to share with pastors and their families whom we know through the ministry of Equip2Serve. Many of these pastors have been to our Bible teaching sessions and we've built a relationship with them. Seeing them receive help during this difficult time is a blessing not only to them but to us!
We have been blessed to partner with CHAP International, helping to provide food for our pastor's families, their staff's families, and widows and needy families in the Monrovia area.
