This is the year, 2017, that Liberia had hoped to re-elect a new President. Many canditates began campaigning hoping to win the race. However, in the end, two men came forward as the top runner ups, George Weah, and Vice-President Joseph Boakai.
Events did not go as planned for the runner-ups. Before long the Supreme Court ordered a halt to the run-off elections for allegations of fraud. We don't know how long the elections will be delayed for. A time frame has not been given.
At this time, the world waits to hear what the verdict will be in Liberia and who will be the new President. Mrs. Ellen Johnson has been in power since 2005, being the first female elected President.
Continue to pray for Liberia. Peaceful elections and smooth transitions.
God is in control!
